About QuiltMetrix
QuiltMetrix helps you understand a fabric estimate before turning it into a shopping list.
What the tools do
This independent project provides three focused tools: rectangular backing, straight-grain binding and a single butt-joined border. Each pairs editable measurements with a written cut list, a schematic and an explanation of the assumptions. The tools are free to use in this version.
How the content is made
The software and explanatory content were developed with AI assistance. Calculations are checked against worked numerical examples and boundary cases. That mathematical testing is not the same as a physical sewing trial or an independent professional quilting review; neither is claimed here.
What a result means
An estimate answers a specific geometric question using the measurements you provide. It cannot inspect your fabric, identify its grain or decide what your pattern requires. The worked examples explain the supported methods. Your pattern and quilting service’s requirements take precedence.
Independence
QuiltMetrix is not affiliated with Google, a fabric manufacturer or a quilting service. No testimonials, professional credentials or product endorsements are claimed. This version contains no advertising or paid affiliate links.
Checking a result
If a result seems wrong, first check the unit, usable fabric width and seam allowance. Compare the cut list with the calculation method and the worked example on the relevant tool page. Do not cut fabric until the discrepancy is resolved.
